Nate the Great 시리즈는 Marjorie Weinman Sharmat가 소년 탐정 Nate를 주인공으로 쓴 탐정 소설입니다. 각 책의 길이는 48~64 페이지 내외로 짧으며 각각 풍부한 삽화가 들어있습니다. 책을 혼자서 읽기 시작한 아이들이 소리 내어 읽기 좋은 짧고 반복적인 문장으로 이루어져 있으며, Reading 중급 단계로 적당합니다.

어린이용 챕터북, 탐정 이야기를 주제로 한 재미있고 흥미진진한 이야기입니다. 주인공 Nate는 스스로를 Nate the Great (위대한 네이트)라고 부르며 주변에서 일어나는 작은 미스테리들을 풀어갑니다. 바바리 대신 비옷을 입고 팬케이크를 좋아하는 소년 탐정의 고독한 사건일지입니다. 엄마가 만들어 주시는 몬스터 쿠키를 너무나 좋아하는 Nate the Great. 스트로베리가 든 드라큘라나 초콜릿 프랑켄슈타인, 시나몬 늑대인간도 넘 좋아한답니다. 그런데 엄마의 몬스터 쿠키 요리법이 사라졌어요! 엄마로부터 첫번째 사건의뢰인데..Nate the Great는 다시 맛있는 쿠키를 맛볼 수 있을까요? 30년 넘게 독자들을 즐겁게 하여 모두에게 사랑 받는 탐정 Nate the Great~! 기발한 캐릭터와 흥미있는 내용들은 아이들에게 큰 사랑을 받고 있으며 독자들도 함께 주인공인 Nate와 각각의 미스테리들을 풀어나가는 재미가 있습니다. Sludge keeps an eye on the owl's cage while Nate snoops for clues. Then Hoot disappears! 1928년 Maine주 Portland에서 태어난 Marjorie Weinman Sharmat 는 어린 시절부터 작가와 탐정이 되는 꿈을 꿔왔습니다. 그리하여 그녀의 꿈이 담긴 가장 인기 있는 시리즈인 Nate the Great는 1972년에 시작되었습니다. Sharmat의 많은 책들은 문학 협회에 선정되어졌고, 국회 도서관에 의해 올해의 책에 선정되기도 하였습니다. LA국제 어린이들의 영화 축제 시상식에서 우승한 Nate the Great Goes Undercover를 포함한 몇몇 작품은 영화로 제작되어 텔레비젼에서 상영되기도 하였습니다. Nate the Great Saves the King of Sweden은 뉴욕 공공 도서관이 정한 100개 타이틀에 포함되어 있습니다.
